Shooting in City Heights leaves one dead; Police searching for suspect

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man was killed in a shooting at an apartment complex in City Heights’ Corridor neighborhood early Tuesday, San Diego police confirmed.

The incident was reported around 2:30 a.m. at the apartment complex in the 4000 block of 36th Street. According to Lt. Jud Campbell with SDPD, officers found the victim in the courtyard of the complex with at least one gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.

The suspect, described as a man in his 30s, fled the scene following the shooting, SDPD said. He was last seen possibly heading south toward University Avenue, wearing white pants, a black shirt and a black backpack.

No additional details were immediately available about the shooting. An investigation remains ongoing.
