Sheriff's Office arrests man after 3-day investigation

May 3—The Cass County Sheriff's Office arrested Rodney J. Stoops Wednesday afternoon on multiple warrants, ending an investigation that began April 29.

Stoops was arrested at 4:25 p.m. on May 1 on warrants for criminal recklessness with a firearm (level 6 felony), resisting law enforcement (class A misdemeanor), two counts of invasion of privacy (class A misdemeanor) and failure to appear (class A misdemeanor).

The investigation began at the same residence in the evening hours of April 29, the sheriff's office said in a press release.

On Wednesday, at approximately 1:28 p.m., deputies with the sheriff's office were checking the residence, located at 116 East SR 218, for a male wanted for multiple criminal charges.

The deputies determined the Stoops, the homeowner, was present.

The Logansport Police Tactical Team (SWAT) was requested to serve the warrants and they were able to take Stoops into custody after they found him barricaded in a bedroom.

Stoops was incarcerated at the Cass County Detention Facility.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office were assisted by the Logansport Police Department, Indiana State Police, Walton Town Marshal, Walton Fire Department, Cass County Emergency Management Agency and Cass County Emergency Management Agency.

The case is still under investigation and will be forwarded to the Cass County Prosecutor's Office after completion. Additional information may be reported to the sheriff's office at 5740753-7800.
