The newly formed Shelby Theatre Company will be presenting a special, exclusive encore performance of the "Vagina Monologues" this Saturday.

Recently, members of Greater Shelby Community Theater and Foothills Players combined to form the new Shelby Theater Company.

The well-reviewed performance will be held at Uptown Indigo at 112 N. Lafayette St. Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour prior to show time from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be $20 at the door, first come first serve.

Katy Martin, vice-president of STC, said the initial performance went so well, and they had so many people express that they couldn't make it to the original dates in February, that they decided to do an encore.

"Also it’s women’s month so the stars just kind of aligned for this one," she said.

The Vagina Monologues, written by Eve Ensler, is a collection of monologues exploring an array of experiences related to being a woman in various global, local and interpersonal circumstances. Over 200 women were interviewed to form the The Vagina Monologues. Each monologue is fictionalized non-fiction, as the stories the narrators recount lived experiences by women shared in the interviews.

Upcoming performances will include Rex’s Exes by Jones Hope Wooten on May 3 at Cleveland Community College.
