Shelby house a total loss in early-morning fire
SHELBY ― A fire Thursday at 84½ Whitney Ave. left a house a total loss.
No injuries were reported.
The fire broke out at 2:26 a.m., Shelby Fire Department Chief Mike Thompson said.
"The first arriving crew found the occupant out of the home and flames showing through the roof. Shiloh fire was dispatched as automatic mutual aid. The residence was located in a long alleyway making securing a water source a challenge for responders," Thompson said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, fire officials said.
"The home is a total loss, garage and outbuildings are intact. No injuries were reported to the occupant or responders. The American Red cross responded to assist the occupant. Crews remained on scene until 5:36 a.m.," he said.
