Shawnee Co. Sheriff’s Summer Youth Academy
TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office is holding its annual Summer Youth Academy later this year.
In June, the sheriff’s office is welcoming 6th, 7th and 8th graders to learn about law enforcement at the 2024 Summer Youth Academy.
“The purpose is to build life skills, instill confidence and help develop positive self-esteem,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a press release. “The curriculum will include a wide variety of activities that will incorporate teamwork, physical fitness and general law enforcement information.”

The event will be free of charge and last from Monday, June 10 through to Friday, June 14 at Seaman High School. To apply, register before the May 6 deadline by contacting Deputy Shayna Anderson at Shayna.Anderson@snco.us or call the Community Services Unit at 785-251-2200.
“The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office strives to provide a positive learning experience for our youth during their summer break. This program is structured to be fun, informative and challenging,” the press release states.
