Shannen Doherty’s latest Instagram is heartbreakingly brave
Whether you know someone with cancer, battled or are battling cancer yourself, or are just a fan of hers, watching Shannen Doherty go through her fight with cancer has been emotional and inspiring. The Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed actress has been open about her journey and Doherty’s latest Instagram post is just another example of how brave she has been during her battle with cancer.
Doherty announced in August that the breast cancer she was diagnosed with in 2015 had spread to her lymph nodes and that “from one of my surgeries we discovered that some of the cancer cells might have actually gone out of the lymph nodes.” Because of that, she went through more chemotherapy and is now going through radiation.

In her latest Instagram post about her treatment, Doherty wrote:
“Another day of radiation. Meet Anna and Vince, 2 members of my radiation team. They make a concerted effort to talk to me and show me what’s going on in this process so I don’t feel so out of control in it. Never be too timid to speak up and ask for what you need to get thru the process. None of this is easy but a great team can make it more pleasant.”
This is a great message for everyone — not just people with cancer — since taking control of your own health and understanding what procedures you are going through is SO important.
When Doherty appeared on Chelsea during the October 28th episode, “It Tears You Down, and Builds You,” she discussed how she knows that her fame has given her an “amazing platform” to discuss cancer. And Doherty hopes that openly communicating about her cancer can help other women — and men — who are fighting breast cancer too.
We wish Doherty all the best as she continues to battle her cancer and hope that others in her situation will find inspiration from her brave posts.
