Shafter tobacco shop owner, cited and released, for alleged illegal gambling activity

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Shafter police said officers cited and released the owner of a tobacco shop who was allegedly running an illegal gambling operation.

On Tuesday, Shafter police officers and inspectors from the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) inspected the Shafter Tobacco Shop located at 701 Central Valley Highway around 10 a.m.

During the inspection, officials said they found and seized illegal marijuana and tobacco products. Officers also found gambling equipment and collected evidence of illegal gambling activity within the tobacco shop, the department said.

Police detectives executed a search warrant for the seizure of the illegal gambling games. Two operational Fish Game type machines were found and seized from the back storage room of the shop.

Yasin Shaw, 50, was cited and released for allowing illegal gambling inside his tobacco shop.
