SFPD seizes 13 pounds of narcotics, makes 13 arrests in one-day operation

(KRON) — On Friday, the San Francisco Police Department shared the seizure of over 13 pounds of narcotics and made 13 arrests during a one-day enforcement operation this week around the city’s Tenderloin District.

Officials say this was the largest-scale enforcement operation of the city’s Drug Market Agency Coordination Center (DMACC). Of the 13 arrests, five were suspected of possession for sales of the narcotics, police said.

The enforcement operation occurred on Tuesday, police said. SFPD has specifically been focusing its efforts around the United Nations Plaza and the San Francisco Public Library. During their search, police seized almost 4 pounds of narcotics in that area during Tuesday’s operation, police said.

The four-pound seizure led police to serve search warrants for a previous, ongoing investigation, police said. With the assistance of an SFPD K-9 unit, officers located and seized four firearms, ammunition, and over nine pounds of narcotics, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, police said.

SFPD officers from the Narcotics Unit, Narcotics Drug Recognition Expert Team, Tenderloin Station Patrol/Violence Reduction Team, and Tenderloin Plainclothes Team participated in Tuesday’s operation, police said.

“Our efforts in taking wanted suspects off our streets to hold individuals accountable for selling illegal narcotics and creating a drug crisis on our streets will make streets safer and save lives,” SFPD said in a statement.

Since May 29, the SFPD has seized over 194 kilos of narcotics and made more than 3,000 arrests specifically related to drug activity in these neighborhoods.
