SF couple who started anti-pickleball petition reportedly sell mansion — with pickleball court

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A couple who started a petition complaining about noise from a nearby pickleball court and were later revealed to have a pickleball court of their own, appear to be selling their Presidio Heights home. According to a report in SF real estate blog, The Real Deal, Karl Peterson and his wife Holly have found a buyer for their Jackson Street mansion.

The 12,000-square-foot mansion, designed by renowned architect Julia Morgan, is listed as pending on a number of real estate websites.

The Petersons and their home, which is listed for $29 million on Zillow, were at the center of a pickleball polemic last year. Holly Peterson reportedly started a petition complaining about the noise from the nearby Presidio Wall pickleball court.

But pickleball players at the court called fault when it was revealed that a pickleball court was listed as among the many amenities at the Peterson’s mansion.

While pickleball players at Presidio Wall argued the noise from their courts was fairly contained, when KRON4 visited the area, the game’s tell-tale “pock-pock” sound could be heard from about a block away.

SF Parks and Recreation eventually converted several of Presidio Walls’ courts to tennis, in an apparent concession to neighbor’s complaints.

The Peterson’s mansion, meanwhile, was initially listed at $36 million, before dropping to $29 million, according to The Real Deal. One potential buyer also reportedly backed out due to the noise.

Other amenities listed at the mansion, which was built in 1917, include a wood-burning fireplace, an au pair unit, gourmet kitchen and “inviting Bay and Presidio Park views.”
