Severe weather in the Big Country: Potential for hail, damaging winds & tornadoes

BIG COUNTRY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) — Severe weather is affecting the Big Country, bringing hail, rain, and more.

A line of thunderstorms developed Saturday afternoon, moving from west to east throughout the afternoon and evening.

Earlier today, a tornado flooded the roads in Knox County and caused some damage. The extent of the damage is still under investigation.

The squall line extends from southwest Texas along the I-10 corridor, through the Big Country and Wichita Falls, and up to Oklahoma City. Our meteorologists warn of hazards such as large hail, damaging winds, heavy rainfall, isolated tornados, and lightning.

According to Meteorologist Clemente Morales, the storm will be right over the middle portion of the Big Country at about 1:00 a.m. He mentioned that the storm’s intensity is fluctuating and should be out of the Big Country at about 4:30 Sunday morning.
