Severe weather causes Tuesday school closures

ACADIANA (KLFY) – The severe weather that moved through Acadiana Monday evening has caused some school closures. Here is a list of those reported to KLFY as of 7:45 a.m.:

  • Acadia Parish: Mermentau Elementary is closed due to no power at school. All other schools are open.

  • Iberia Parish: Coteau Elementary is closed.

  • Lafayette Parish: Acadiana High School and Duson Elementary are closed. If your student rode a bus to school this morning, they are currently being rerouted back to the bus stop

  • Jeff Davis Parish: All schools will be closed.

  • St. Landry Parish: Arnaudville Middle School is closed.

  • St. Martin Parish: All Cecilia area schools will be closed, including Cecilia Primary, Teche Elementary, Cecilia Junior High and High School. All essential personnel (administrators and custodians) should report to work. Graduation practice for Cecilia High School will take place at noon at Cecilia High School.

  • Vermilion Parish: Indian Bayou Elementary, Jesse Owens Elementary and Gueydan High School are closed. North Vermilion Middle and North Vermilion High do still have school, but absences will be excused.
