Severe storms could bring hail, damaging winds to Austin on Monday, NWS says
A possible storm on Monday could bring hail and damaging winds to Austin, according to the National Weather Service.
The best chances for precipitation on Monday will be in the afternoon into the early evening hours, meteorologist Brandon Gale said.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for most of Central Texas, excluding Williamson, Burnet and Llano counties. The warning is set to expire at 4 p.m. Monday. Wind gusts could reach up to 70 mph, with hail as large as 3 inches in diameter. Storms may form into a line, transitioning the main hazards to damaging wind and a few isolated tornadoes, National Weather Service meteorologist Emily Heller said.

The storm will be followed by a weak cold front, causing Monday's overnight temperatures to drop into the low to mid-60s. Tuesday's high will reach into the upper 80s, with minimal chances of rain and with sunny to partly cloudy skies, Gale said.
More rain is likely Wednesday evening, with 50% to 60% chances through Thursday morning. Gale does not expect widespread heavy rainfall, though localized heavy rain is possible.
Weekly highs will remain in the mid- to high 80s, with overnight lows in the 60s and 70s.
