Severe storms possible this week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — After another warm day on Tuesday, we are anticipating a few isolated storms Tuesday night through Wednesday morning on the Plateau, followed by some possible storm re-development Wednesday evening.

A Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather comes into the picture for most counties west of the TN River Tuesday night.

Wednesday, all of Middle TN is under a marginal risk again. Henry, Benton, Dickson, Houston, Stewart, Montgomery, & Robertson counties, along with Southern KY are under a slight risk (level 2/5).

After that round goes by Wednesday morning, we should see a temporary break, allowing temperatures to heat back up ahead of a frontal boundary that will move in during the afternoon and evening hours. This could cause the re-development of storms that could also be strong or severe late evening.

The uncertainty for storms Wednesday will be driven by what storms enter our region Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Two of our high-resolution model data show different results for the possibility of storms on early Wednesday morning. If the overnight storms do not impact our area much, this will allow for ample heating of the day and increased instability on Wednesday for our region, potentially setting off a few storms in the afternoon & evening. If storms do form Wednesday, all severe threats are at play, especially gusty winds and hail. The tornado risk remains low but confined to individual storms that form. This is an evolving forecast, stay tuned for updates.
