Severe storms expected across Middle TN early Thursday morning

A Tornado Watch is in effect in Trigg, Christian, Todd and Muhlenberg counties until midnight. Middle TN has a Tornado Watch in effect until 3 AM. Stay weather alert with the second round of storms popping up through the early hours of Thursday morning.

A Moderate Risk (level 4 out of 5) for severe weather has a bullseye over all of Southern KY and most of Middle TN. Southern Middle TN counties are in an enhanced risk (level 3 out of 5). All modes of severe weather are possible across Tennessee and Kentucky. 80+ mph winds, hen egg sized hail, tornadoes, and severe thunderstorms are likely.

Strong storms moved across Middle TN and Southern KY Wednesday afternoon and lasted through the night. A second round of storms is likely through the early hours of Thursday morning. All modes of severe weather are possible including tornadoes, hail, severe thunderstorms, and damaging winds. Usually, the atmosphere uses up the ingredients for strong storms with the first round, but the ingredients are still there and that’s why more severe weather is likely.

Going into Thursday morning after 7 AM the severe weather threat has passed. A few showers could pop-up , but through the mid-morning things will be dry and clear.
