Fatal hit-and-run in Watertown Twp.: Officials

WATERTOWN TWP., Mich. (WLNS) — Clinton County Sheriff officials have confirmed that at least two people are dead, and nine have been injured, after a hit-and-run accident near Wacousta and Corrison roads Saturday evening.

An official told 6 News that a female driver had hit a group of 11 family members. The family had been walking from a park near Wacousta Road in Watertown Township.

The driver then drove away from the scene. A patrol officer tracked the driver down, and she is now in custody.

The sheriff’s office said that alcohol is likely a factor in the hit-and-run.

6 News is on scene at the corner of Wacousta and Corrison roads since about 6:45 p.m., near the Looking Glass River. Our team observed several ambulances, in addition to several fire and police vehicles.

First responders and community members have gathered around the area.

The departments on scene include Lansing, Portland, Delta Township and others.
