Seven pets lost in house fire in Jamestown, fire chief says

Apr. 13—JAMESTOWN — Seven pets were lost in a house fire on Saturday morning, April 13, in southeast Jamestown, according to Jim Reuther, Jamestown fire chief.

Six units and 21 firefighters responded to 310 5th Ave. SE at about 8:45 a.m. Saturday. Reuther said smoke was coming out of the house when firefighters arrived.

He said the fire started in the main entry into kitchen area. Firefighters extinguished the fire and made sure it was out. Firefighters also ventilated the house for smoke.

He said the entire house has smoke damage.

No injuries were reported, but seven pets were lost, Reuther said. He said no one was home at the time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters were on scene for about an hour and 45 minutes.
