Services, egg hunts planned in the Hendersonville area for Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday is March 31, and many area churches will be holding sunrise services. There are several other events planned in the region for Easter, and they are listed below:

Services and Easter Egg Hunt at The Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness: The church welcomes children of all ages to participate in an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday, March 31. The annual event is hosted by St. John's Young Family Ministry. The hunt will be in the Rector’s Garden and Parish Hall lawn at 1905 Greenville Highway, across Rutledge Drive from the church. Parking is available. For Holy Week, a special foot-washing service will be at 7 p.m. March 28. On Good Friday, March 29, outside and leading to the church, the Stations of the Cross begins at 11 a.m. with Good Friday services inside the church at noon and 5:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday, March 31, services will be held at 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. with the Easter Egg Hunt in between. Service and Easter Egg Hunt at West Hendersonville Baptist Church: West Hendersonville Baptist Church, 730 Willow Rd., will hold an Easter service at 10:30 a.m., and it will be followed by an Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 12 and under, and the hunt isn't just for members of the church.

Easter Brunch Buffet at Season's Restaurant in Flat Rock: The buffet will be from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Season's at Highland Lake, 86 Lily Pad Lane. Cost is $60 per person, $30 for children ages 6-12. Kanuga Easter Sunday Brunch and Easter Egg Hunt: Kanuga, 130 Kanuga Chapel Drive, will be holding an Easter Egg Hunt for ages 1-6 at 11 a.m. March 31 and also an Easter burnch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Guests are invited to enjoy the grounds and trails before or after the event. Kanuga’s hiking trails and Daisy’s Lake Trail, which is an easy walk encircling Kanuga Lake, will be open. More information is available at https://www.kanuga.org/events/.

Photos with the Easter Bunny at the Asheville Mall: The Easter Bunny will be at the Asheville Mall through March 30. Visit https://www.vipholidayphotos.com/mall/H-AM to schedule a photo shoot.

Easter Sunrise Service at Chimney Rock Park: Interdenominational service at 6:30 a.m. March 31. Celebrate Easter by watching the sun rise over Hickory Nut Gorge during annual service atop Chimney Rock. Free admission but participants must reserve a parking pass. Only one parking pass is needed per vehicle. Gates will be open from 5-6 a.m. for 6:30 a.m. service. Visit www.chimneyrockpark.com.

Lake Junaluska outdoor sunrise service: 7 a.m. March 31 at the amphitheater below the cross, near Lambuth Inn. Attendees encouraged to dress warmly for cool mountain morning temperatures. In the event of rain, the service will be held at Memorial Chapel. Guest pastor will be the Rev. Dr. Amy Valdez Barker. Lake Junaluska Conference & Retreat Center is in Haywood County.
