Sergio Garcia has fiancée Angela Akins by his side during Masters win ahead of their summer wedding

Spain's Sergio Garcia won the 2017 Masters with his fiancée Angela Akins by his side when he defeated England’s Justin Rose during the first playoff hole on Sunday, April 9. Now the couple, who got engaged on January 6, have more golf and their summer wedding to think about. "We were just talking about it," Sergio quipped during the winner's press conference when asked if he would wear his green jacket during his big day. "This one is a little bit too big. It would be nice, but no -- I don't know. We'll get to the point when we get there."

The pro-golf champion and the Golf Channel reporter are set to say “I do” this summer once the British Open wraps on July 23 and a little more than two years into their relationship. On Monday, Angela took to Instagram to celebrate Sergio’s victory. “My man looks good in green,” she captioned the photo of her walking hand-in-hand with Sergio in part. “I’m so proud of you @thesergiogarcia! You did it. #MastersChampion2017 #Masters MrandMrsG." During an interview with Golf Digest, Angela shared how she showered her fiancé with motivational quotes and, with the help of her father and mother, brought positive energy to the sidelines. “We’ve got a great group this week,” she said on Sunday. “A lot of positive energy.”

Ahead of his big win, the 37-year-old pro credited Angela, who golfed for the University of Texas Women's team, and his future father-in-law for all of their support. "It definitely helps, there's no doubt about the background that the whole family has,” he told Golf Digest. “Marty is a very, very positive, very, you know, outspoken and very, very confident kind of guy, and it definitely helps when he's encouraging you and things like that. He continued: "Those things are nice to see. Angela is the same way. They are all very competitive. So you know, they are positive things to help out, for sure."
