Sentenced: Man elicited child sex acts with undercover agent in Hickory, DOJ says

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man will serve two decades in prison after eliciting child sex acts and arranging a meetup in Hickory with an undercover agent, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina announced.

Cannon Kress, 50, of Arkansas, will serve 20 years after pleading guilty last October to child porn distribution. Court records stated that in October of 2022, Kress started a group on the social media platform Kik where videos and photos of child porn were posted.

An undercover detective was able to infiltrate the group where Kress expressed interest to the agent in engaging in sex acts with a 5-year-old girl.

Kress then traveled to Hickory, North Carolina, where he was arrested.
