Semis collide in I-70 construction zone in Effingham County

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Two semis were involved in a property damage crash on Interstate 70 in Effingham County on Sunday.

It happened around 5:35 p.m. by mile marker 100 in the eastbound lanes. Illinois State Police said those lanes were shut down promptly as they investigated. No one was hurt.

I-57 closed part of Sunday night after accident

The incident comes just a month after I-70 construction started back up in the area. The project involves reconstructing the westbound lanes, requiring traffic to be reduced to the eastbound lanes with one lane of travel for both directions.

No injuries were reported from the accident, ISP said. All lanes were open by 8 p.m.
