Selena Gomez has this one “Wizards of Waverly Place” prop framed in her home

Can you *really* call yourself a Selenator if you don’t remember Selena Gomez on Wizards of Waverly Place? The show, which aired in 2007, followed the Russos, a family of wizards who were living in New York City. Selena played Alex, a young and bold wizard learning to step into her magical powers. The show was the start of Selena’s career, and apparently it’s something that’s still special to her.

In an interview with Radio Disney, Selena admits that she framed the wand Alex used in Wizards of Waverly Place, and that she still gets emotional talking about the show.

Selena may be the most-followed person on Instagram, and may have an ultra successful music career, but she still remembers her roots.

We can’t help but love the sentimental way in which she chose to honor Alex and her time as a wizard. Selena even says that she thinks she is Alex Russo. She also went on to state that what she misses most about the show is having her wand in her boots, which is where she kept it most of the time.

But now, her wand has a change of scenery! During the interview with Radio Disney, Selena says,

The show may have aired a decade ago, but we love that it still lives on in Selena’s heart. We hope that one day we’ll get to see Alex’s wand framed, but until then, we’ll be binge-watching Wizards of Waverly Place for old times’ sake.
