It's been three months since Selena Gomez announced she was going to take a break from her tour to focus on her mental and emotional health. In late August, she put her Revival tour on hold after revealing she was experiencing "anxiety, panic attacks and depression" as a side effect from lupus. The singer's hiatus wasn't confined to the stage; she went dark on social media and avoided public appearances, too.

Recently, however, the star has slowly tiptoed back into the spotlight-she appeared at the American Music Awards last month and posted her first Instagram in three months on Thanksgiving. Although there were reports that Gomez checked into rehab during her time off, no one quite knew what she was up to during her hiatus. But in a recent questionnaire with Thrive Global, which features "some of the world's most successful people," she reveals how she spent her hiatus. A lot of it has to do with getting in a good head space and staying off the internet.

"I recently took 90 days off. During that time I did not have my cellphone. It was the most refreshing, calming, rejuvenating feeling," she said when asked about her relationship with her cellphone. "Now I rarely pick up my phone, and only limited people have access to me." If she ever has to use her phone, she prefers making calls rather than writing emails. "I do better over the phone!" she said.

Gomez also revealed the last time she felt burned out: "Three months ago, before I took a hiatus to take care of myself." But now she says she gets energy from "staying healthy (mentally, physically, emotionally) and learning new things."

And if she ever gets 15 minutes to herself, this is what she indulges in: "Self-affirmations in cooking or napping!"
