Select swim beaches on Beaver Lake reopen in time for Memorial Day Weekend

ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA-KFTA) — The following swim beaches on Beaver Lake have been reopened by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Beaver Lake Project Office.

  • Hickory Creek

  • Horseshoe Bend Campground

  • Indian Creek, Lost Bridge South

  • Prairie Creek

  • Rocky Branch Day Use Area

  • Rocky Branch Campground

  • War Eagle

  • Horseshoe Bend Day Use Area

However, the swimming beach at Dam Site Island will stay closed because of elevated E. coli levels and will stay closed until tests show that bacteria levels are back to normal.

Before a swim beach can be reopened, the Health Department mandates two satisfactory water samples from each beach. The recent temporary closures occurred due to elevated E. coli levels discovered during routine testing performed by the Arkansas Department of Health.
