How to see the solar eclipse from the National Mall
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The solar eclipse is on Monday, April 8, and although D.C. is not in the path of totality, people will be able to see a majority of the eclipse from the National Mall.
The National Air and Space Museum is hosting a free event in celebration.
The Solar Eclipse Festival on the National Mall will take place on April 8 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. between 4th and 12th Streets.
Curious visitors can browse through activity stations to view the sun in a variety of safe telescopes and explore educational offerings from Smithsonian museums and partners, according to the event’s website.
Am I in the total or partial eclipse zone?
Since only a limited number of solar eclipse glasses will be handed out, attendees are encouraged to bring their own solar eclipse viewers. You can buy viewers online or at a museum store or use welding glasses with Shade 14 green filters.
