You Have to See This Dad's Hilarious "Maternity" Photo Shoot Parody
I've seen maternity photos go viral for any number of emotional, bittersweet, or funny reasons, but the latest set of "pregnancy" photos making waves on the Internet might be the most unique yet.
Spanish father of two adult daughters Francisco Pérez (known to his friends as "Paco") posed for a series of hilarious maternity shots at the request of his friend, photographer Martyn Wilkes. Wilkes, who has photographed plenty of traditional maternity shoots, wanted to "have a bit of fun" with them, according to The Huffington Post. Paco's "rather large stomach, which resembled a pregnant mother" was all the inspiration he needed to devise a one-of-a-kind photo shoot that's since gone viral.
Wilkes came up with the concept and Pérez's overall "look" for the photos, and the funny dad completely nailed the facial expressions and poses that you see in just about every "standard" maternity shoot.
I mean, just look at this grade-A "baby bump" cradling.
Obviously, he broke "character" and laughed at certain points, because how could he not?
The flower design and name "Noelia" inscribed on Pérez's stomach have an equally amusing story behind them. Apparently, after his second daughter was born over 20 years ago, Pérez was sent by his wife to register her name - Noelia. En route, he stopped for a few beers and wound up inadvertently registering her name as "Natalia," thanks to his illegible drunken handwriting.
Fittingly, Wilkes named the shoot (which happened last year but recently saw a surge in online popularity, because, well, it's still pretty damn funny) "Waiting for Noelia."
"The most precious thing in this life is to give life, to pass on our beauty...to experience the most amazing gift given to us by mother nature," Wilkes jokingly captioned the album on his Facebook page. "Paco is expecting a beautiful baby girl called Noelia, with only 5 weeks left to go, his dream of becoming a Father is finally coming true."
"I had been shooting lots of normal mommies and wanted to do something a bit different," Wilkes toldPopSugar. "Paco nailed it!"
Step aside, Beyoncé. Paco is now the queen of Earth Mother-y maternity photos.
