Search underway for boat thief in Geneva County

GENEVA COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — The Geneva County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding information on an April boat theft in rural Geneva County.

The boat, a black 25-foot 2016 Manitou Pontoon Oasis, was stolen from the side of Highway 27 on April 17, below Chancellor at the 13-mile marker.

Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms says the driver was heading back to his home in Enterprise when he got a flat tire on the boat trailer sometime before 11:00 p.m. and left the trailer on the side of the road just long enough to drive home and get a spare.

When the driver returned to where he left his trailer, around thirty minutes later, the trailer and boat were gone.

The GCSO provided a surveillance video to WDHN showing a white pickup truck with the stolen boat attached driving down Highway 27 at approximately 11:07 p.m. The truck then turns down Dogwood Trail towards Coffee Springs and disappears into the night.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the GCSO at 334 684 6947
