The original report is below.

(BCN) — A woman with dementia who went missing in San Leandro more than a day ago has still not been located and law enforcement is stepping up the search for her, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

Laurie Allanson, 64, was last walking from her care facility in the 2000 block of Sol Street in San Leandro, between 7:30 p.m. Sunday and 6:35 a.m. Monday.

According to the Sheriff’s office, Allanson has dementia, is unfamiliar with the area, and does not have money or a cellphone.

Authorities said she has spoken about traveling to New Jersey and may be looking for a means of transportation to get there.

The Sheriff’s Office said that it obtained surveillance footage of Allanson in the 14000 block of Saturn Drive in San Leandro around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. She was wearing a cheetah-print onesie pajama, a purple jacket, light-colored tennis shoes and had her hair braided to the back or side.

She is described as a Black woman, 5 feet 8 inches tall, around 135 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

On Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office said it had deployed search and rescue, stepped up patrols, alerted Community Oriented Response and Engagement and employed other means to try and find her.

Anyone with information about whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the local police.
