Man’s body recovered after Neuse River drowning in Wake County

Law enforcement and emergency crews have recovered a man’s body after a reported drowning on the Neuse River.

The reported drowning occurred at about 1 p.m. Wednesday near the Neuse River Greenway Trail and Loch Raven Parkway, near the Milburnie Dam river access.

“According to witnesses, an adult male was spending time with family when he went into the water to swim, and moments later, he went under and never resurfaced,” according to a news release from the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

He was found after a five-hour search about 6:05 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities have not identified him.
