School bus driver injured in student attack: Rowan County Sheriff

SALISBURY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A school bus driver in Rowan County was assaulted by a student after a fight broke out between students, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday and involved a bus from Erwin Middle School.

An initial investigation stated that when the bus came to a stop, one student tried to attack another student. During the attack, the bus driver was hit and the head and in the face by two other students, according to the sheriff’s office. The driver suffered minor injuries to the nose and did not need medical attention. No students were injured.

One student was charged with assault on the bus driver.

Salisbury Police also responded and the students were released to their parents on scene.
