The NCAA made Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament champion South Carolina the overall No. 1 seed for the 68-team event, which tips off Wednesday and Thursday with First Four games at campus sites.

South Carolina (32-0) is the No. 1 seed in Albany (N.Y.) Region 1.

The Gamecocks have won 74 of their last 75 games.

Iowa, led by NCAA all-time scoring leader Caitlyn Clark, is the No. 1 seed in Albany (N.Y.) Region 2.

Southern California is the No. 1 seed in Portland (Ore.) Region 3.

Texas is the No. 1 seed in Portland (Ore.) Region 4.

Kentucky (12-20) did not receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament this season.

Louisville (24-9) was awarded a No. 6 seed in Albany Region 2 and will play its first game against No. 11 seed Middle Tennessee State (29-4) on Friday or Saturday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Eight teams were selected from the Southeastern Conference: Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.

The semifinals and finals in each region will be played March 29-April 1 at MVP Arena in Albany, New York, and at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. Under a new format instituted last season, eight teams will compete at each site instead of the four teams at four regional sites used previously.

The women’s Final Four is set for April 5 and 7 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
