Scabies outbreak at a south St. Louis school

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Health Department is reporting a scabies outbreak at an area school. Officials say there are 27 confirmed cases at City Garden Montessori in south St. Louis.

The human itch mite is what causes scabies, according to the CDC. Symptoms include intense itching and a pimple-like rash. It can spread rapidly in crowded conditions.
