Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan has revealed the reasons why he "rarely interacted" with the cast of Sex and The City while filming.

The actor appeared as Trey MacDougal in 23 episodes of the romantic comedy-drama – the partner of Kristin Davis' character Charlotte York. However, he was unaware of the conflict between stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall while filming.

Speaking about his time on SATC and Desperate Housewives, where he later played the role of Orson Hodge, the actor said he was "unaware" of any hostility going on on either show.

"Rarely did we interact with the other couples," he told Metro at the premiere of his new Prime Video series Fallout.

The actor went on to explain that he spent the majority of his time on SATC filming alongside Davis and Frances Sternhagen (who played Trey's mother Bunny).

He added that his time on Desperate Housewives was spent with Marcia Cross, who played his on-screen wife Bree Van de Kamp.

"Rarely did we interact with the other couples," he continued. "We would do our scenes and wrap for the day. And that would finish the day or then another couple would come in and they would start shooting their sequences.

"So Kristin and I just did our stuff together and that was my experience for the most part with Sex in the City."

And Just Like That, the sequel to Sex and the City, airs on Max in the US and Sky Comedy and NOW in the UK.
