Sarcoxie mom avoids prison time for child endangerment

SARCOXIE, Mo. — A Sarcoxie mom will not go to prison for child endangerment connected to a 2023 Amber Alert.

Earlier this week, Amber Turner, 39, pleaded guilty to second-degree child endangerment. Judge Gayle Crane sentenced Turner to two years of unsupervised probation.

That charge stems from an incident on April 15 of last year.

Turner told Jasper County deputies she allowed her daughter to go with 23-year-old Matthew Honeycutt to pick up a dog 10 minutes away. But when they didn’t return three hours later, Turner called the Jasper County sheriff deputies.

Joplin police arrested Honeycutt as he was entering Missouri from Oklahoma on I-44. He pleaded guilty back in January and was also put on probation.
