Saratoga Springs investigating reports of attempted kidnapping

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (ABC4) — A pair of reports of attempted kidnappings have put the Saratoga Springs Police Department on alert over the last two weeks.

Saratoga Springs spokesperson AnnElise Harrison told ABC4.com the city received two reports of attempted kidnappings in the Harvest Hills neighborhood of the city and several reports of suspicious activity. However, the parents of the victim in the initial report called the police department and retracted their report.

Still, Harrison said the city and the Saratoga Police Department are taking every report seriously.

“At this point, we are still investigating,” said Harrison. “We’re just treating everything we’ve been told [as] the truth and we are doing what we would normally do.”

Harrison said at this point in the investigation, police have not identified any suspect. As police continue their investigation, there will be increased patrols in the Harvest Hills neighborhood. Harrison advised parents to talk to their kids about the dangers of talking to strangers and how to stay safe out in public such as being aware of your surroundings and traveling in groups.

Anyone who notices anything suspicious in the area is asked to report it to the police department via email at policetips@saratogaspringscity.com or by calling the non-emergency line at 801-578-5600. In the case of an emergency, please dial 9-1-1.
