Sarasota Coalition on Substance Abuse to honor Citizen of the Year and community leaders

The "Big Blue Bus” – part of Sarasota County Schools’ Adult & Community Enrichment (ACE) program – is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The classroom on wheels has been educating adult visitors and locals since 1974 with a focus on regional history, entertainment, religion, and arts and culture through a variety of behind-the-scenes field trips. Some students have taken classes for over 10 years, never seeing the same venue twice, said Brenda Lee Hickman, who has guided the program since 1998. In January 2023, the Sarasota County Commission honored Hickman on her 25th Big Blue Bus teaching anniversary. To learn more, visit ace-sarasota.com.
