Sangamon Valley water department orders east Mahomet boil drinking water for safety
Apr. 26—MAHOMET — The Sangamon Valley Public Water Department is ordering all residents on the south side of Piatt Street in the city's Candlewood Estates to first boil any water they intend on consuming.
The boil order is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice, a Friday release from the department said.
"It is essential for residents in these areas to boil all water intended for consumption such as drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth, for at least one minute before use. The water should then be cooled before consumption."
"This precautionary measure is necessary to ensure the safety and health of residents in the affected area. Further updates will be provided as soon as they become available."
