The students had to meet a strict set of criteria in order to be eligible for the award, including being U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents who demonstrated exceptional SAT or ACT scores between 2020 and 2023.

The application for the U.S. Presidential Scholars program is by invitation only, according to the department’s website.
