Salvation Army Panama City announces new 'House of Hope' housing program
PANAMA CITY — Salvation Army of Panama City has announced the grand opening of a new transitional housing program called "House of Hope."
The ribbon cutting is set for Friday, May 10 at 10 a.m. at the Salvation Army Tommy Thomas Administration Building. 1824 W. 15th St., Panama City.
According to a press release from the Salvation Army, the Bay County Chamber of Commerce will be present as a part of the ceremony. Also featured: music from the Salvation Army Band and a tour of the facilities.
Qualified residents can stay in the eight apartments provided by the Salvation Army, located on Flower Avenue next to the Tommy Thomas Administration Building. These residents may stay in the secure units for up to 18 months, with a monthly program fee of $300.
Salvation Army Corps officers say the temporary housing is available to victims of domestic violence and families with children facing homelessness.
The apartments have been closed in recent times due to damage from Hurricane Michael in 2018 and mold issues.
