SAISD, TLCA to launch 2024-2025 open enrollment soon

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Open enrollment for the San Angelo Independent School District and the Texas Leadership Charter Academy of San Angelo’s 2024-2025 school year is just around the corner. Here’s what they’ve said thus far about being ready for it.

SAISD

SAISD’s open enrollment period begins on Monday, April 1, for new and returning students. Enrollment remains open throughout the year, but the district asks returning students to have their enrollment completed before the start of the school year.

Enrollment can be completed from any web browser or smartphone. Parents can use these platforms to upload required documents, which include a child’s birth certificate, proof of address, social security card, and immunization records, in .pdf, .jpg or other standard file formats, according to the SAISD enrollment webpage.

SAISD has repeatedly stressed the importance of parents and legal guardians having access to their eSchool Plus Home Access Center accounts in the weeks leading up to open enrollment. The HAC is a web-based tool that “allows guardians to monitor their child’s grades and attendance throughout the school year and renew enrollment information during the online enrollment window,” according to SAISD.

Parents and guardians of returning students are advised to ensure that they still have the username and password to their HAC account on hand before open enrollment begins so that their student’s information can be updated during the time period. If you have lost or forgotten your HAC account’s username and/or password, SAISD encourages you to visit this link and follow the prompts that appear.

TLCA

TLCA San Angelo’s open enrollment period will begin on Monday, April 1, at 12 a.m. and conclude on Friday, April 12. The academy’s enrollment process is held entirely online through the school’s website, meaning that those wishing to enroll a student need to have access to the internet.

TLCA’s enrollment FAQ webpage sheds some light on how the enrollment process works. According to the FAQ, TLCA “utilizes a fair, transparent software system that complies with data privacy regulations” that “takes the balance of student names and fills the open positions with completed new student applications.”

Any remaining students are then placed on a waiting list, with the child’s parent or guardian being notified once a spot in the appropriate grade level becomes available. Children who are siblings of students currently enrolled at TLCA are moved to the top of the waiting list for placement.

TLCA warns that, since the school grows every year, the number of spots available fluctuates from enrollment period to enrollment period. This number is dependent ” on the number of students who have confirmed their intent to return for the following school year,” according to TLCA.
