A Russian Interior Ministry official has called for a ban on the porn industry, claiming it is a conduit for recruiting children into terrorism, Telegram channel Sota reported on April 23.

Yuri Sharkovich, a member of the public council at the ministry, made the remarks at a forum organized by the Safe Internet League.

According to Sharkovich, approximately 10% of Russians are employed in what he described as the "intimate services business." He stated, “Today, for your understanding, more than 16 million Russian citizens are involved in the intimate sphere, in business intimate sphere.”

At the forum, spearheaded by the daughter of Russian pro-Putin senator Elena Mizulina, Yekaterina, Sharkovich asserted that pornography and webcam activities are platforms through which children are allegedly recruited into terrorism. He criticized educational messages that teach children aged 5-7 that their bodies are their own, claiming such notions lead them to become "either prostitutes, oppositionists, or terrorists."

According to propagandist, when children aged 5-7 are told that their bodies are individual and belong only to them, they are “turned against their parents,” and as a result, people “become either prostitutes, oppositionists, or terrorists.”
