Russia planning series of ‘hybrid’ attacks ahead of elections in Moldova
Russia is planning a "hybrid" attack on Moldova ahead of its presidential elections and a referendum on joining the European Union, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with British intelligence assessments.
Britain will share intelligence with Moldovan authorities to help them counter Russian agents' threat in the coming months, sources said.
The Kremlin uses various methods in its "hybrid" attacks, including deepfakes generated by artificial intelligence and bribery to undermine democracy in Moldova, Mihail Popșoi, Moldova’s FM said.

Moldova's Foreign Minister Mihail Popșoi and Britain's Minister of Industry and Economic Security Nusrat Ghani will meet in London on April 30. They will discuss “undermining Russian interference”. Defense ministers from both countries will also attend the meeting.
Britain's efforts are part of an attempt to expand intelligence sharing about election interference beyond its G7 allies.
Moscow plans a campaign of "unprecedented intensity" to disrupt the presidential elections and the EU referendum, Moldova's intelligence chief, Alexander Mustyatsa, warned last month.

The Moldovan elections and referendum on EU membership are both scheduled for October 20. President Maia Sandu, who supports European integration, will run for a second term in the election.
