Run for the Wall motorcycle event returns for 2024

RAINELLE, WV (WVNS) — In honor of veterans and to remember those that have lost their lives in war, veterans, along with others, are riding motorcycles across the country this Memorial Day.

Mountain Music Festival returns in 2024

The event, Run for the Wall, will have participants riding motorcycles on three different routes and will be passing through Rainelle, WV.

Todd Taylor, the West Virginia State Coordinator for Run for the Wall, explained the tradition and why it is so important to the area.

“The kids are absolutely just, if you ever walk into Rainelle [Elementary], their hallways are lined with Run for the Wall stuff. Year-round they teach patriotism. They teach what it is to be a veteran and how to honor everybody. When we get there, all these kids are out there just screaming and hollering at us,” said Taylor.

The mission is to reach the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day so riders can reflect and heal after their journey. The hope is to return home to a new beginning.

Taylor also mentioned that this event shows how much veterans are valued by the community. He also said that this ride will soon include a fourth route for riders.
