INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Kansas City Royals CEO John Sherman, VP of Business Operations Brooks Sherman, and former Chiefs safety Deron Cherry met with a group of labor leaders and members Monday night to discuss their support for question one on April 2.

All three spoke on different topics weighing on voter’s minds including the impact on small businesses and economic benefits.

Cherry, a business owner himself said he’s voting yes.

“For me and my business the more people that come in and support downtown the better off I think we’ll be so I am not too concerned about that and I think when you get a bunch of people coming I think it’s going to be good for everybody and I think there’s enough to go around to be successful as a business,” Cherry said.

The event took place hours after the committee to keep the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals in Jackson County sent a letter criticizing Frank White and how he’s handled the stadium issue.

“I wish we would’ve been able to communicate this in a more timely fashion but look we have to deal with it,” Sherman said. “That has been a frustrating part of the process, I wish it hadn’t been but we’d love to have his support on this.”

“Kansas City has so much momentum it’s so good that people will have the ability to come here and realize that they are in a major city that has all the amenities of a big city but yet has that hometown feel,” Cherry said.
