Roselle man dies after being hit while riding scooter in Linden

LINDEN – A Roselle man died Wednesday after he was struck by a car while riding a scooter at the intersection of North Wood Avenue and Gibbons Street.

Police responded around 2:30 p.m. to the intersection where arriving officers located the victim, unidentified by police, trapped under a car, said Linden Police Capt. Christopher Guenther.

Firefighters quickly freed the man, but he was pronounced dead at a local hospital, Guenther said.

A preliminary investigation determined the car was traveling southbound on North Wood Avenue, making a left turn onto East Gibbons Street, when it struck the scooter traveling south in the northbound lanes.

The driver of the car was not injured, Guenther said.
