“Rogue One” is missing one thing every other “Star Wars” movie has and the Internet is seriously not okay with this plan
Spread out across nearly four decades and ten movies (at this point in time…there’s more coming!), the Star Wars franchise stole the hearts of fans around the world. From lightsabers to the Force to quips that are often referenced (“I know.”), there are aspects of these films we’ve all come to know and love. But, seeing as how the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first in a series of standalones, it’s no surprise that this film will be different from its predecessors.
To start, the film will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and will be the first of its kind to not have a score produced by John Williams. Can you imagine losing that soul-moving music? Everyone, regardless of being a Star Wars fan (or not), knows the “Imperial March.”
But okay, we can be open-minded. Still, we were shocked by what LucasFilm chief Kathleen Kennedy disclosed in a recent interiew with Variety.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story won’t feature the iconic opening crawl.
What? Really???
Of these changes, Kennedy said, “We felt that’s so indicative of what those saga films are. Initially, we probably will begin the film in a way that is traditional, with just the title.”
As you could imagine, fans offered up mixed reviews on the upcoming change.

@TrentKusters Good, needs to differentiate itself from the mainline movies and set precedent for side adventure. Plus the context is known.

While it may be hard to accept initially, don’t be discouraged by the change. Former director of The Force Awakens, J.J. Abrams, told us all that:
“…one of the many wonderful byproducts of the universe that George created is that nearly anything can happen within it.”
Rogue One: A Star Ways Story is scheduled to release on December 16th.
