Rogersville attempted murder suspect enters guilty plea, sentenced

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Court records show a man accused of an attempted murder in Rogersville in May 2023 has entered a guilty plea and been sentenced.

On Monday, court documents state 49-year-old James Daniel Tucker pleaded guilty to second-degree assault. He was sentenced to serve 5 years in the Alabama Department of Corrections followed by 2 years of state probation.

Tucker was originally wanted in connection to a shooting in the area of County Road 70 and County Road 562 on May 18, 2023, after he ran from the scene.

According to Rogersville Police Chief Brian Hudson, officers responded to a call about a domestic dispute that turned violent. A man had been shot on the right side of his face, but according to Hudson, he is expected to recover.

Chief Hudson said Tucker ran away from the scene and hid in a nearby home. Authorities sent a robot into the home to search for Tucker, but could not find him.

He was arrested on May 22, 2023, in Limestone County on Little Elk Road and charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of second-degree assault.
