Rock Falls man arrested on burglary charges for theatre theft

A Rock Falls man is under arrest after police say he broke into a theatre in Clinton and stole equipment and money, according to a release from the Clinton Police Department.

Clinton Police responded to the Clinton Showboat Theatre, 303 Riverview Drive, for a reported burglary on March 6. During the investigation, officers discovered that someone broke into the Bandshell and Clinton Showboat and stole items, including musical equipment, electronic equipment, money and costumes. Several doors had been forced open and electrical wiring was damaged inside the bandshell, according to court documents.

The Clinton Police Criminal Investigation Division was able to identify a suspect and suspect vehicle, based on information gathered at the scene. Detectives responded to an address in Rock Falls where they found the suspect and suspect vehicle, as well as some of the stolen items inside the suspect vehicle. Detectives spoke with the suspect, identified as Robert M. Keister, 34 of Rock Falls, who confessed, the release said. Detectives also recovered the stolen property.

As a result of the investigation, Robert M. Keister was arrested on two counts of burglary 3rd degree, a class D felony. He is awaiting an initial court appearance.
