Roanoke Sheriff’s Office hosting ‘Cover the Cruiser and Tip the Deputy’ fundraiser for Va. Special Olympics

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)— The Roanoke Sheriff’s Office is hosting the third annual ‘Cover the Cruiser and Tip the Deputy’ fundraiser for Special Olympics Virginia at the Valley View Mall’s Red Robin on Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There are two opportunities for donations toward Special Olympics Virginia during the event. First, donations will be accepted in the ‘Cover the Cruiser’ initiative, where the sheriff’s office hopes to cover an entire cruiser parked outside the restaurant in donations. Donations of payment method are accepted and any amount will result in a pledge card being placed on the cruiser.

Also, deputies and personnel inside the sheriff’s office will be volunteering as ‘Celebrity Waiters.’ All of their tips will go directly towards supporting Special Olympics, making this an event where guests can look forward to great food, service, and contributing to a good cause.

Through this event, the sheriff’s office hopes to rally the community and make a difference in the lives of athletes participating in the Special Olympics of Virginia.
