Electrical fire causes $61k worth of damages to Roanoke home

UPDATE: 4/22 8:56 A.M. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)– The Roanoke Fire Department says a home has sustained about $61,000 in damages after a fire ignited on April 19.

Firefighters in Roanoke were called to the 1500 block of Patterson Avenue SW just before 4 p.m. on Friday.

When crews arrived, they found thick smoke coming from the house. Smoke could also be seen hovering over the Southwest Roanoke area.

The fire department quickly brought the blaze under control. As a result of the investigation, the Fire Marshal determined that the fire was electrical and started by accident.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)– The Roanoke Fire Department says no injuries were reported during a structure fire on Patterson Ave SW on Friday, April 19.

Although details remain limited at this time, crews were dispatched around 4:00 p.m. to the 1500 block of Patterson Ave SW on a report of a structure fire.

Chief Hoback with the Roanoke Fire Department reports crews were able to control the fire within an hour and prevent the house from being lost. He also says the house was under renovation, so no residents were home at the time of the fire and no one was displaced.

There were no other injuries reported from the scene

The Roanoke Fire Marshal’s Office remained on the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. Chief Hoback says the cause of the will be released later on Saturday.
