It's road construction season. Here’s everything planned in Manitowoc County this summer.
MANITOWOC — There's a common saying that Wisconsin only has two seasons: winter and road construction.
Well, winter is long gone from Manitowoc County and orange barricades are popping up like street daisies.
Here's a look at the road construction projects happening in the county this summer and when you can expect your morning commute to return to normal.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation project
New passing lanes on U.S 10 between villages of Reedsville and Whitelaw
When: Now to November
What: The addition of two passing lanes to U.S. 10. The eastbound passing lane will be 2 miles long between Manitowoc Street/Pleasant View Road and County G. The westbound passing lane will also be 2 miles long and located between County G and Fritsch Lane.
Detour: No detour will be posted and U.S. 10 will remain open to traffic. People can expect to see lane shifts and flag operators.

Franklin Street from South 21st Street to South 26th Street

What: Reconstruction with concrete paving and watermain replacement
Detour: Franklin Street will be closed during construction and drivers will be directed by signs to use Washington Street.
Viebahn Street from South 10th Street to the railroad tracks west of South 26th Street
When: May 28 to September
What: Joint project between the City of Manitowoc and Manitowoc County. The city will replace manhole castings and sections of concrete curb and gutter. The county will repave with asphalt.
Elder Drive from East Magnolia Avenue to the north end cul-de-sac
